TVXQ′s Max Changmin Thanks Everyone at the ′Japan Academy Awards′

TVXQ (DBSK) member Max Changmin became the first Korean to win the Newcomer of the Year Award at the Japan Academy Awards on March 8.

The singer appeared at the ceremony held live that day to accept the honor, and remembered to thank everyone while showing off his wit.

The trophy was awarded to Max Changmin for his work with the role Momo in his Japanese big screen debut piece Run with the Gold. He was especially praised at the time of the film′s release for his perfect Osaka dialect.

After receiving his trophy, Max Changmin said, "I was honored to be able to work with such a great director, such great actors, such great colleagues and such great staff members. I was also touched at being awarded this great award. Thank you."

When asked by the MCs whether he experienced any difficulties in his first big screen role in Japan, the singer answered humorously, "I couldn′t communicate well with director Izutsu [Kazuyuki] because his Kansai dialect was so difficult to understand. I was scolded a lot. He was very scary."

The Japan Academy Awards gives out honors in a total of 16 categories for the films released in Japan in the past year. Max Changmin was the only foreign actor among the four actors who won the Newcomer of the Year Award this day, and was the first Korean ever to achieve such a feat.
